There is a word in Greek that has no direct English translation: halará (χαλαρά).

It means relaxed, unhurried, at ease. But more than that, it describes a way of being — a deliberate choice to move through life without force. To let things unfold rather than wrestle them into submission.

American culture teaches that ease is earned. You must first exhaust yourself, check every box, prove your worth. Only then, maybe, can you rest.

Greek culture offers a different truth: ease is not the reward. It is the foundation.

1. The morning coffee that refuses to rush.
